The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) SNF Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program is one of many VBP programs that aims to reward quality and improve health care.

Beginning October 1, 2018, SNFs will have an opportunity to receive incentive payments based on performance on the specified quality measure.

According to recent modeling by Myers & Stauffer some quality scores of LeadingAge Members will cost them thousands of dollars.   LeadingAge Indiana is giving you the tools and resources to navigate upcoming changes.

What to Expect:

July 1, 2019  July, 2020
Indiana Medicaid's Value Based Purchasing will launch the new reimbursement calculations for skilled nursing facilities July 1, 2019. Your facility score will be determined by the following:
  • 30% determined by long-stay measures from CMS 5-star quality
  • 55% from health inspection domain of CMS 5-star quality
  • 10% from staffing domain (PBJ data) of CMS 5-star quality
  • 5% for Advance Planning Certification
Once the full process is implemented by July, 2020, scores will be determined by following:
  • 60% determined by long-stay measures from CMS 5-star quality
  • 25% determined by the health inspection domain of CMS 5-star
  • 10% from staffing domain (PBJ data) of CMS 5-star quality
  • 5% for Advanced Care Planning Certification

Obtain your Advance Care Planning Certificate - Here's how:

  1. Register learner in Relias 
  2. Complete all 4 modules preferably within 30 days of registering (search for “ACP”)
  3. Complete the Evaluation (survey) within Relias
  4. Obtain the “Advanced Care Planning Foundations Certificate” within Relias
  5. Submit certificate copy to supervisor
