LeadingAge Indiana member, Bethel Manor broke ground for the The Rehab Cottage at Bethel, modeled after the Indiana Small House regulations. The new cottage will have 12 private rooms with bathrooms and will support elders requiring short-term, post-acute care in a setting that is free-standing and designed with the comforts of home in mind.
Therapists will use, not only a gym, but the entire house for rehab. Programming has a more holistic approach to rehab than traditional settings. For example, if a guest/resident will be preparing their own food upon returning home then staff will work with them in the cottage kitchen to work with them on preparing easy and healthy meals that they can continue to prepare upon their return home. If a guest will be doing their own laundry upon returning home, we would include doing laundry in our residential style laundry room during their stay.
Floor surfaces and transitions were designed to provide a variety of situations for guests to practice ambulation.

Even though we are building something new and state of the art when it comes to post-acute care. It really seems like for Bethel Manor, we are just getting back to our roots which is providing compassionate Christian healthcare in a homelike environment. This Rehab Cottage, simply put, will do just that. It will provide a place for people in our community to come for nursing and rehab services provided by compassionate therapists and caregivers in a setting that is not just “homelike”, but that truly is a HOME," says Josh Bowman, Administrator for Bethel Manor.
An open house is expected for early this summer and Bethel Manor hopes to be admitting residents in July of 2020. www.bethelmanor.com
