While there are many services provided by membership associations, one that often goes unnoticed is the associations’ responsibility to “stand” for something on behalf of the membership. LeadingAge Indiana is your association. We stand for everything our members provide to their patients, residents, customers and we stand for you! We are the common voice of our membership. BUT, to be successful, we need your involvement.

LAIN staff is dedicated to providing services that positively impact and support our members. To find out more on how your involvement will make a difference to our combined success, please continue reading.

How Your Involvement Will Make a Difference

1.    Participation and involvement in opportunities we provide: Our members are not ones for sitting passively on the sidelines. We know you want to be involved - we encourage your participation and involvement in opportunities we provide, such as: education/training, conferences and networking events, grassroots advocacy/legislative events, regulatory and legislative issues involvement and more. We need to know what your specific needs are so that we can continue to offer beneficial services – Member action items: Please participate in member surveys, call, e-mail, or stop in and talk with Mike or other LAIN staff members. Our doors are always open to you.

2.    Service on the Board of Directors, committees and roundtables: Our members serve on the Board of Directors, committees and roundtables that govern the overall activities of LeadingAge Indiana. By dedicating their time and committing to serve the entire LeadingAge Indiana membership, many of your peers selflessly volunteer their time to enhance and advance the value of LeadingAge Indiana to our diversified membership – Member action items: Continue to get involved. Consider serving a leadership role at LAIN.

3.    Idea Sharing and Open Communications: Our members enjoy the opportunity to share their ideas, knowledge, experiences with one another. LAIN encourages these efforts, creates avenues for communicating and sharing information and initiates dialogue on specific issues – Member action item: Participate by submitting topics for discussion, reply to requests for experience sharing, communicate openly with peers and LAIN staff.

4.    Grassroots Advocacy Participation is important: LAIN provides continual updates to members on regulatory and legislative issues that have impact on daily operations and providing aging services. LAIN works with state and federal elected officials on your behalf, but it is imperative that members also carry messages to their elected officials, act/serve as industry experts and provide resources to keep the issues at the top of their lists.  Member action item: Stay informed and educated on issues, participate in member/legislator events, open lines of communications with LAIN staff regarding issues and challenges you are facing.

These are just a few examples of how your involvement in LeadingAge Indiana can and will make a difference. Our doors, emails, phone lines, etc. are always open to our membership and we appreciate all of you!
