Quarterly Compliance Update
Matthew D. Neumann, Kreig DeVault LLP
Becky Bartle, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs Consultant, LeadingAge Indiana

This Spring session, Matthew Neumann with Krieg DeVault LLP will take a closer look at the EPA’s new rule concerning the management of hazardous waste pharmaceuticals in long-term care facilities (among other health care facilities), set to take effect on August 21. Previously, nursing facilities were treated the same as households for all hazardous wastes and exempt from the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations. Under the new rule, nursing facilities will now be subject to RCRA hazardous waste regulations not only pertaining to hazardous waste pharmaceuticals but for non-pharmaceutical hazardous waste as well.

After our conversation with our partner from Krieg DeVault LLP, Becky Bartle will take a deep dive into any new F-Tags as well as industry trending of citations, along with the actual harm and immediate jeopardy citations since our last meeting.
