As the “other” part of the interdisciplinary team, the dietary personnel need to have an awareness of the different assessments and when to expect that they will need to be completed. In addition, we will examine the conditions that could affect the resident’s ability to maintain adequate nutrition and hydration. Take an in-depth look at Sections K (Swallowing/Nutritional Status) and the associated Care Area Assessments (CAAs). We will review the new items about weight gain and nutritional approaches and then link the assessment to the care plan using the CAAs and how to document their use.
